Loretta Weiler Obituary 2024 - Trimble Funeral Homes (2024)

Loretta Weiler, 85, passed into new life on Monday, July 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. Loretta was born March 28, 1939, the daughter of Herman J. and Emma J (Huhman) Doerhoff of St. Elizabeth, MO. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. Loretta then pursued a 40-year career in public service, serving as an senior secretary for the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Plant Industries Division. Early in her career, Loretta’s co-worker, Audrey (Weiler) Huhman, suggested Loretta meet her brother, Jerome (Jerry) Weiler. Loretta agreed, and Audrey arranged a blind date. What began as an innocuous dance party blossomed into love, marriage, and 63 wonderful years of Loretta and Jerry dancing through life together. Their holy union began in St. Elizabeth Missouri at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church on October 1, 1960, which brought forth a legacy of four children, twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Loretta and Jerry attended mass regularly and were faithful parishioners at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Jefferson City, MO.

Throughout her life, Loretta did everything with steadfast dedication, spirit, and excellence. As a child, Loretta grew up with her nine siblings on their modest family farm, learning to find joy in small blessings (she received a single orange each year for Christmas) and learning the value of dedication to faith, family, and hard work. As a high school athlete, Loretta was the pitcher for the softball team and was an exceptional basketball player, scoring a school record 40 points in a single game. Following high school, Loretta found joy in numerous hobbies and interests. She and Jerry loved spending time with their many friends. Loretta was a fiercely competitive card player, honing her expertise via lunchtime pitch games at work each day, a monthly card club, and frequent family card games with the kids and grandkids (where she almost always won, but almost never rubbed it in.) Loretta was also a talented seamstress and quilter, making clothes for her children, handmade quilts for each of her children’s wedding gifts, and for every baby born into the family. Loretta enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, Hallmark movies, and anything recommended on Netflix. She was also an avid reader, which kept her intellect keen and her wit sharp for her entire life. Loretta enjoyed giving back to the community by delivering Meals on Wheels every week with Jerry. More than anything, Loretta was wholly dedicated to her family. She always hosted large family gatherings, remembered and celebrated everyone’s birthdays, and spent quality time with her grandchildren. Loretta was an amazing wife, sibling, mother, and grandmother, and was the rock and foundation for the happy and loving family she raised.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Jerome F. Weiler. Children: Kenneth (Laura) Weiler, Michael (Karen) Weiler, Brian (Melanie) Weiler, and Lynn (Jason) Parman. Grandchildren: Leah and Lucas (Christina) Weiler, Justin (Anna), Adam (Tina), Jacob (Claire), Caleb and Hannah Weiler, Natalie, Emma (William Rowe), Samuel, and Abigail Weiler, and Riley Parman. Great grandchildren: Olivia Weiler, Jackson and Colette Weiler, Peyton, Michael, and Matthew Weiler, Theo Weiler, and Margaret Rowe. Siblings and in-laws: Rosana Weidinger, Dorothy Rupp, Julitta (John) Langle, Evelyn (John) VanGoethem, Carolyn Stolberg, Margaret Kremer and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by parents: Herman and Emma Doerhoff, great grandchildren: Lucia Rose and Therese Josephine Weiler, siblings and in-laws: Sister Mary Julitta Doerhoff, Bernard (Mary) Doerhoff, Alfred (Mary) Doerhoff, Dolores (O'Dean) Stover, Robert Weidinger, Bernard Rupp, Stephen Stolberg, Audrey (Ed) Huhmann, James Weiler, and William Kremer.
